Academic Scholarship Awarding
UGA Undergraduate Admissions automatically screens all incoming first-year (freshman) students for Academic Scholarships during the admissions process. The majority of awards go out in March and are usually finalized by early April for all admitted first-year students. During the final scholarship reviews and awards, Admissions will offer scholarships to a wide range of students who have been admitted during any of the decision dates. An email will be sent out once the scholarship awarding process is complete and scholarship offers will be reflected on the Application Status Portal. Please see the list of UGA Academic scholarships on the Undergraduate Admissions Web Page for eligibility requirements and additional information.
Academic Scholarship Eligibility
All (University or UGA) Academic Scholarships require full-time enrollment (12 hours). Most scholars can receive a one-time less than full-time exception during a semester of enrollment. To receive a less than full-time exception, the student must submit the request form to OSFA. Information on how dropping or withdrawing a course may affect your scholarship eligibility can be found here.
Academic Scholarship Renewal
After an Undergraduate Admissions Scholarship has been awarded to a student, the Office of Student Financial Aid is responsible for renewing the academic scholarship each year. At the end of spring semester each year, OSFA will check the scholar to ensure the academic requirements (i.e. full-time enrollment, UGA GPA) which are detailed in the award letter available on the admissions decision UGA Status Check Page and below are fulfilled.
If a student loses their Undergraduate Admissions Scholarship at the end of spring semester, the student may appeal to Undergraduate Admissions once they have regained the minimum UGA GPA requirement to have the scholarship reinstated.
