Now pay CET fees online
The education department in Karnataka has made provisions for students to pay CET fees online. With the consumer world being almost entirely online, the world of education is also catching up. The e-payment facility was launched by the Karnataka Examination Authority for the 2013 CET candidates.
The long lines of anxious students and parents can now be bypassed through the e-payment module. Candidates can pay the required fees and download the admission forms for the college of their choice. Gaining admission to a college is now devoid of the hassles of waiting in halls with a charged electric atmosphere of all the anxious students.
While e-payment certainly simplifies matters, the method is relatively new and the step by step process is listed below in order to help out students and parents with the process of securing college admission.
The process of remitting fees online
- Every student is given a log-in password for the KEA website. Once logged in, students will be able to see the details of the colleges and the amount of fees to be remitted for each course.
- A receipt containing the name of the applicant, the reference number, the account number the fees should be remitted to and the total amount payable can be downloaded from the website.
- The payments may be made through net banking or through challan payment, obtained from the Indian Bank Core Banking Branch.
- For ease of access, there is a list of banks available on the website, applicable to the mode of payment chosen.
- A bank where the student or the parent has an existing account is preferable but not mandatory.
- The challan payments shall be made out in favor if KEA account No. 6125538727 (for all other banks) and KEA account No. 6121857884 (for payments made through the Indian Bank Branch). The payment may also be remitted to account number 6142463758 ED/KEA collection account. This is an RTGS/NEFT account.
- The account numbers listed above are held in Indian Bank, Malleswaram, in Bangalore. The IFSC code required for online transfer of funds is IDIB000M010.
- Once the payment is remitted, those who used net banking will receive a unique transactions reference or UTR. For those students who used the challan payment mode in any Indian Bank branch, a reference number (RO) is given in confirmation of the payment. This confirmation number should be entered on the KEA website in order to get the admission order.
- In case of net banking, the admission order may be order may be downloaded within an hour of remitting the fees. In case of challan payments on the other hand, students will have to wait for a full 24 hours before downloading the admission order.
- A step by step instruction manual including screen shots will be accessible soon on the KEA website.
Other important information to note
- As with the traditional CET seat allotment, if the student is satisfied with the college allotted, they may pay the fees online and report to the college. An intimation of joining the college should be made to the KEA through the website.
- If the student is not completely happy and wishes to participate in the second round of counselling, s/he will have to intimate the KEA through the website. The fees should be paid in full regardless of the student wishing to wait.
- If the same student chooses the college allotted in the second round of counselling, then the college seat allotted in the first round is cancelled. In case the student does not get any seat in the second round of counselling or chooses to opt for the seat previously reserved then the student may do so.
- If a candidate is allotted a seat in the first round of counselling and does not pay the entire amount within the stipulated time, then the seat falls back into the pool of available seats for the second round of counselling.
- Candidates who choose colleges in the second round of counselling, as with students who selected colleges in the first round, should let the KEA know through the web portal.
- If the candidate does not join the college and/or fails to surrender the seat within a stipulated time, then the student loses the fees and the seat.
- A list of students who have reported to the colleges will be made available to the KEA by the colleges.
- Every college can check the number of students who have paid fees and downloaded the admission orders via the KEA web portal.
The whole process of admissions and counselling has thus been simplified through the e-payment system.
